For more than 35 years, the Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellowship has introduced rising D.C. reporters to the city they’re assigned to cover. In monthly sessions, fellows learn what it takes to cover the White House, Supreme Court, Congress, Pentagon, Justice Department and other key government institutions.
NPF’s Kevin Johnson brings more than 40 years of reporting experience to his role facilitating the program and building the curriculum. Lawmakers, analysts and top journalists in the business lead discussions on policy, politics and best practices in reporting designed to help fellows thrive on their demanding beats. Equally important: it is an opportunity to network with colleagues to grow personally and professionally.
All meetings will be in person at NPF’s office in Dupont Circle or elsewhere in D.C. unless developments require virtual meetings. The orientation will be January 10, 2025, and the first program session will be February 7. Meetings are generally 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on the first Friday of the month, with the exception of July and August (summer break). Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
